As a serious person, Democratic Rep. Cori Bush uses serious words to make serious arguments about serious issues

Sorry, Cori, but it’s hard to believe someone who uses a term like “birthing people” in earnest.

Her story is certainly a powerful one, and sadly, it likely resonates with many other mothers. But she ultimately undercuts the seriousness by busting out “birthing people.” She’s fighting for black mothers like her, but she can’t even bring herself to refer to them as women?

Someone should get on that ASAP.

Acknowledging women’s womanhood is a lot more empowering than attempting to erase it.
