Democratic socialist Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a seemingly limitless source of unintentional comedic fodder. And we’re wrong for pointing and laughing at her. At least according to Nate Silver:
Sure seems like conservatives are making a mistake* in trying to demonize Ocasio-Cortez when she comes across as being very relatable, relative to other politicians.
* Not to imply it's necessarily a rational or calculated decision.

Demonizing? Is that what we’re doing?
It's clearly the belief that a young woman of color isn't going to know how to play by the rules in DC. That there are rules. That she shouldn't try anything.
It's the status quo, status quo-ing.— Jordan Barr (@jordanbarr) November 19, 2018
No, it’s the fact that she’s kind of a moron.
"demonize" ?

Demonize?
She gets critiqued.— Shari Anders (@sharinotes) November 19, 2018
Apparently “demonizing” = Valid criticism towards a member of Congress because she espouses massive expansions of federal outlays and doesn’t seem to possess even a basic knowledge of how our govt functions.
Did I get that right?

It's not demonizing to point out stupidity. And her 'three chambers of congress' comment was pretty damn stupid!

If by demonizing you mean pointing out that he grasp of how government is structured and works is woefully lacking then yes.

is it demonizing? or just making fun of someone clearly in over her head?

Is laughing at her "demonizing"? https://t.co/6nEDXKeMN5

I don't see conservatives demonizing her, I see them making fun of her.

See, from where we’re sitting, we’re merely enjoying the show. What Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lacks in intellectual, economic, and policy firepower, she more than makes up for in entertainment value.

We’ll grant Silver that any conservatives picking on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s wardrobe aren’t doing themselves many favors. But we’d be truly doing it wrong if we didn’t shine an even brighter spotlight on all the stupid and ridiculous things she says.
Couldn’t the same be true for the media crucifying@realdonaldtrump for making spelling errors etc?
— Mike Kumar (@mikeinyvr) November 19, 2018
That’s also a good point. Donald Trump sticks his foot in his mouth on a regular basis. Misspells simple words, contradicts himself, demonstrates ignorance with regard to basic policy. If he’s fair game as President of the United States, surely Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn’t immune from mockery. They’re actually not that different from one another.
I don’t know. Making someone with little policy depth the straw man for left policy objectives seems pretty strategically sound.
If you were a conservative, who would you rather have as the face of a universal healthcare debate: Gillibrand, Klobuchar or AOC?
— The Hoarse Whisperer (@HoarseWisperer) November 19, 2018
Gillibrand and Klobuchar aren’t exactly packing much intellectual heat, either, but they’re geniuses compared to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Definitely make Ocasio-Cortez your standard-bearer, Dems. We won’t stand in your way.
Oh, and by the way:
Um…it's not just conservatives who have concerns about AOC.

Good luck with all that, libs.
