Pointy-headed lefties are always waxing poetic about how open-minded they are, but when they get the opportunity to put their money where their big mouths are, they very rarely follow through.
That’s certainly the case for “writer, academic, and political correspondent” Jared Yates Sexton. Over the weekend, Fox News had a segment discussing “The Way of the Warrior Kid” book series by retired Navy SEAL Jocko Willink. And Sexton just couldn’t handle it:
Peak Fox News Weekend is pushing a book for “warrior boys” in response to the Wimpy Kid series.

Willink graciously offered to send Sexton the books so he could check them out for himself before passing judgement:
Hello, Jared @JYSexton. Would you like me to send you the books (it’s a series) so you can read them and not judge them by the cover—or their news coverage? https://t.co/Ul278Cf1qo

But Sexton wasn’t interested:
I’ll pass. I recognize capitalizing on insecure masculinity when I see it. https://t.co/NanPEqFIx4

What a coincidence! We recognize self-righteous beta d-baggery when we see it!

But conservatives are the close-minded ones.
This is a disappointing response & approach.

Big whiff here Jared. Never too late to delete.

Delete? Please. He’d have to have shame first.

Literally judged a book by its cover.

My 5yr old has learned some very practical life lessons from the podcast. You not giving it a chance is pretty shallow thought process.

So my daughter is a victim of insecure masculinity? pic.twitter.com/e4PXp3HjbB

My husband reads @jockowillink’s books to our kids because Diary of a Wimpy Kid was not teaching them anything. They are more confident and connecting with their dad in greater ways. Jocko is good people and we do not feel like he is capitalizing on any insecurity.
— Rock23L (@Rock23L) April 30, 2018
You are wildly off on this one. Take some time to get to know Jocko. The man is a fantastic role-model, despite my disagreeing with him on plenty of things.
— Vinny Mullin (@VinnyMullin) April 30, 2018
Jared you are clueless and consciously choosing to remain that way. If you actually read the books you would realize that they are all about self-improvement, leadership, and service to others. Everyone should read these books. I only wish they had been around when I was a kid.

Willink is far more gracious than Sexton deserves.
Okay. Not sure what you mean by that, but best of luck with your endeavors. If you change your mind, let me know. Thanks @JYSexton https://t.co/Jx9Co5Iy1C
— Jocko Willink (@jockowillink) April 30, 2018
Change his mind? You probably shouldn’t hold your breath.
How's about confident masculinity? Do you fear that?

We have no doubt.
