The 25th anniversary at Ground Zero was supposed to be names, silence, and families.
Real America’s Voice caught a different tableau: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez grinning through a moment next to Mayor Zohran Mamdani while victims’ names were still being read at the reflecting pools.
The clip is short. It does not need to be long.
One side of the frame is the solemn machinery of the ceremony — people weeping, flowers, uniforms, a family member at the microphone. The other is two of New York’s loudest progressives looking like they wandered into the wrong event and found the open bar.

Context makes it worse. Families and Republicans spent the week begging Mamdani to stay home. Giuliani said his presence offended him. A petition from 9/11 relatives blew past 100,000 signatures. The mayor came anyway, after a pre-anniversary tour that included recasting his own 9/11 memory as the morning a teacher pulled the Muslim kid out of class.
AOC showing up to giggle next to him is the pairing nobody asked for and everybody now has on loop.
Please note we did not make mention of how much she's obviously flirting with him. Oops, we said that out loud, our bad.
X did not do nuance. “Despicable.” “Contempt on camera.” “What is so funny?” Fair questions when the city is reading a list of the murdered and the two politicians in the shot look like they’re at a fundraiser.

Maybe it was a private aside. Maybe the camera was cruel. Ground Zero is not the place you test that theory. You stand still, you shut up, and you let the names finish. They didn’t. The video will outlast whatever statement an aide eventually types.
