Bill Melugin is dismantling Abdul El-Sayed and his latest moronic pitch to abolish ICE and resurrect the old Immigration and Naturalization Service, noting that the post-9/11 breakup of INS into separate agencies under DHS was done precisely because one shop handling applications, border security, and deportations had become a national-security liability — and that the enforcement and removal functions El-Sayed claims to miss were already part of INS’s job.
In other words, the candidate’s big idea amounts to swapping one enforcement agency for… the same enforcement agency under a different name.
