“Wonk” is one of those wonderful words you just don’t find the occasion to use that often — at least until House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan takes the national stage, and “policy wonk” becomes handy media shorthand for “the guy who seems to know what he’s doing but we wouldn’t recognize it if we tried.”
Even political foes agree that Ryan knows something about numbers, an art so dark that it’s kept Harry Reid from adopting a proper budget for 1,200 days. In that spirit, IowaHawk has launched a hashtag challenge:
