This is a good mini-thread from CNN’s Jake Tapper dinging the MSM for its collective coverage of sexual predators in their midst:

Thread: i don’t think news media should pat ourselves too hard on the back for ridding our newsrooms of high profile sexual predators. With few exceptions (@NPR most notably) the reporting that felled the accused was by different outlets. Big scoops in our midsts — ignored. 1/

2/ NYT reported on O’Reilly — not Fox. @gabrielsherman and @GretchenCarlson brought down Ailes — not Fox. WaPo reported on Charlie Rose — not CBS. CNN’s @oliverdarcy reported on Halperin — not NBC or ABC. NYT and Variety were working on pieces about Lauer before NBC took action.

3/ that there has been a “reckoning” (copyright @NorahODonnell) in our industry perhaps more so than any other is great. But most of the offenders were fired only after rival outlets reported on them. #realkeeping

And actually, it was the Washington Post that first exposed NPR:

It was @washingtonpost that broke @NPR story. But one thing @NPR did was interview CEO. @WNYC is currently interviewing their CEO on air. Other news orgs should do the same – audience deserves it.
