Sikhs in the Wisconsin area are using Twitter to dissuade Punjab’s Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal from visiting the site of Sunday’s Oak Creek temple shooting.

Badal is scheduled to attend a wedding in Milwaukee on August 11. The bride is the niece of Surjit Singh Rakhra, brother-in-law of Satwant Singh Kaleka, who was killed trying to fight off the shooter. Badal reportedly wrote to India’s prime minister urging pressure on the Obama administration to do more to protect Sikhs living in the U.S. However, American Sikhs accuse Badal of human rights violations in India.

Some hold Lt. Brian Murphy, who was shot during the incident and is hospitalized in critical condition, in higher esteem.
