This might not have been the best day for mayors to declare schools 'a place of safety' … for illegal aliens

While Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation hearing dominated the news Tuesday, Democrat mayors across the country were making their own bid for press coverage with their #MayorsStand4All campaign.

The bid to promote sanctuary cities as welcoming homes for economy-boosting New Americans didn’t rate much coverage; however, seeing as it fell on the same day that the Montgomery County Public Schools finally held a press conference regarding last week’s horrific rape of a 14-year-old in a school restroom, it only seems right that someone should highlight New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s quote in particular:

Well that’s great news. Schools are a place of safety!

Meanwhile, not that far away, Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jack Smith was assuring the public that the school district has no knowledge of any student’s immigration status, by law does not collect it, and apparently likes it that way — that sort of information only comes out when, say, police arrest two freshmen, ages 17 and 18, as suspects in a horrific sexual assault.

Some parents with children in the Montgomery County Public Schools are protesting outside of tonight’s PTA meeting, but they shouldn’t be concerned; as in New York City, their schools are a place of safety too.
