We’ve all learned to tread lightly when fiddling with the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag, as both Martin O’Malley and Bernie Sanders learned at the Netroots Nation convention earlier this month. Professor Marc Lamont Hill schooled Piers Morgan on saying #AllLivesMatter, claiming the phrase “feeds white supremacy.” Just don’t say it, OK?
This week, though, in the wake of the outrage over the killing of Cecil the lion, a number of activists have decided to swap #BlackLivesMatter for #AllLionsMatter. Honestly, #BlackLivesMatter plus a sense of humor is a pretty potent combination.
