It shouldn’t come as a surprise that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich has emerged to champion House Speaker John Boehner, who has publicly lost the support of several representatives in the last few days. There might be more Republicans in the House, but the conservatives who have been elected have often had to defeat entrenched moderates who, like Boehner, have lost touch with the GOP base. The question is, what has Boehner really done for the GOP?
