Local police, State Highway Patrol, Black Panthers oversee rainy protest in Ferguson

As Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon’s press conference slipped out of his control Saturday afternoon, Capt. Ron Johnson of the State Highway Patrol took over and recognized the crowd control efforts of the Black Panthers and the Nation of Islam, noting that “these groups help, and they’re a part of this.”

The Black Panthers were out early Saturday evening along with yet another parade of protesters, demonstrating for the first time under the new midnight curfew.

Things were peaceful as of early evening, though marchers were doused with rain.
