'Relocating now': Seattle raises minimum wage to $15 an hour

Rep. Nancy Pelosi called it a “vital step,” while most will at least agree it’s a really big step. Seattle’s city council voted unanimously today to raise the city’s minimum wage to $15 an hour, making it by far the city with the highest minimum wage. Washington’s minimum wage currently stands at $9.32.

The first increase, to either $10 or $11 depending on the business, kicks in on April 1, 2015. By 2021, all businesses in Seattle will be required to pay at least $15 an hour.

While some foresee economic disaster, the rest are packing their bags and heading to Seattle to get rich.
