According to Polymarket, Grok is headed to X group chats, where it can join the conversation like another member. X's own help pages already reference adding Grok to chats, and Elon Musk reposted a post saying the feature is currently being tested.

Sounds fun, right? Well, there's one fairly important detail buried in the invitation. And that's this bit right here.
X Chat conversations are end-to-end encrypted. If you add Grok to a Chat, that conversation is no longer end-to-end encrypted. Remove Grok to make the Chat end-to-end encrypted again. Messages sent while Grok was in the Chat are not end-to-end encrypted, and removing Grok does not encrypt those earlier messages.
So much for privacy and security, eh?

It seems Musk may have stumbled into what this writer has come to call the 'Vampire Protocol.' Grok, much like Dracula, can't come in unless somebody invites it. The difference is that once Grok crosses the threshold, your end-to-end encryption leaves through the nearest window.
The real test comes when somebody tells it, 'You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.'
Because how are we supposed to know if it ever really leaves?

Look, it's all fun and games until somebody adds Grok to the group chat and suddenly the robot knows who still owes Aunt Linda $40 from Christmas.
