America Is Healing: Maryland Renaissance Festival Announces a Ban on Furries

Hail and well met, Twitchy readers!

Prithee, harken and attend as we bring joyous tidings of the rapid renewal and shifting winds in the New World that some call "America."

OK, that's enough of that. What we're trying to say is that the cultural shift in the United States is delightfully still proceeding. The latest news about taking America back from the degenerates who want to destroy it comes to us from, of all places, Maryland. Specifically, the Maryland Renaissance Festival, which had been invaded in recent years by the collection of degenerates known as "furries."

But Forsooth! No more!

The annual festival, which began on August 29 and runs through the end of October, issued new attire guidelines for 2026, and "fursuits" have been banned after many festivalgoers expressed that they were uncomfortable celebrating medieval times among people who had no interest in that and only wanted to display their animal fetishes.

According to USA Today, the organizers of the fair stated that all attire must be appropriately themed and also family-friendly.

"All headwear must be removable, thematic to the event, and appropriate for a family-friendly venue," the festival says, adding that non-thematic headwear will not be allowed.

Patrons had complained about furries at the festival, telling staff they felt "uncomfortable by those wearing fursuits," Julius Smith, the Maryland Renaissance Festival’s general manager, told City Cast DC.

If you've ever attended a "pride" parade in a leftist city, you know that family-friendly is the LAST thing that many furries are.

Festival attendees also complained about furries conducting "unauthorized performances." Frankly, the less we know about those, the better.

While weirdos who wear animal costumes complained about "discrimination," normal people celebrated the new edict.

As the initial post above states, the Renaissance Festival is a private event. It can require a dress code. And it can exclude costumes that are not in line with the festival's theme.

We don't seem to recall anyone dressing like that during the Renaissance.

Even one self-described "fursuit dancer" agreed with the new guidelines for attire.

We're not sure WHAT the time and place for furries is, but a Renaissance Festival ain't it.

HA!

If any furry were transported in time back to the Renaissance, we're pretty sure they would not enjoy the experience.

Hey, at least that would be realistic and more historically accurate.

We were as shocked as everyone else.

Maryland, after all, is best known recently for the Francis Scott Key Bridge that still isn't even CLOSE to being rebuilt and for Chris Van Hollen, who likes to enjoy margaritas with MS-13 gang members

That's because it IS weird and out of place.

HAHAHAHAHA!

Welp. He's not wrong.

Thanks to Pete Hegseth, we don't have them in our military anymore either.

It's not like furries don't have their own gatherings. Pretty much every weekend, if not every day.

The Renaissance Festival was just an excuse for them to impose their weird fetish subculture on people who wanted nothing to do with it.

"Fur Lancelot" ... LOL.

Hey, at least that one is period-specific. They might still allow it.

That's what the entire city of San Francisco is for.

Yep. Vibe shift.

Yea, verily.

Slowly but surely, America is healing.

Somehow, we feel like Sydney Sweeney, Sophie Cunningham, and the U.S. men's hockey team deserve a lot of the credit for this.

In the meantime, we hope the Maryland Renaissance Festival returns to somewhat normal after banning all of the knaves, varlets, coxcombs, and wastrels.

And probably Beto O'Rourke
