We've seen the billboards. Back in July, a Texas hospital confirmed to Fox News that it's behind billboards at the U.S.–Mexico border advertising childbirth services and encouraging expectant mothers to give birth in Texas. The billboards put up by Mission Regional Medical Center featured a pregnant woman and promoted “Birth Packages in South Texas."
The founder of a similar Miami-based birth tourism concierge service called “Have My Baby in Miami,” Dr. Wladimir Lorentz, testified before Rep. Brandon Gill’s House Oversight task force, "Protecting American Citizenship: Confronting Birth Tourism," on Tuesday and pleaded the Fifth to every question.
Dr. Lorentz originally refused to testify before our committee.
