This isn't the first transphobe we've come across who insists that WNBA prospects Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White, who identify as female, "commit to the bit" and undergo years of cross-sex hormone therapy to prove that they're women. Just last week, we covered three trans women, including a child rapist and a baby killer, who are suing the State of Washington over not being provided gender-affirming care. Two of the three had mustaches and beards in their mugshots, and they're considered women by their lawyers.
Now, Norman Ornstein, contributing editor to both The Atlantic and Jennifer Ruin's The Contrarian, is demanding that Kanter and White take "massive doses" of estrogen and remove their genitals.
I am going to keep saying this. Let’s take Kanter and White seriously and call them on it. You identify as women then go ahead and become trans. Start the hormone therapy with massive doses of estrogen, then do the operations. You want to play in the WNBA? All you have to do is… https://t.co/fUMcnUrfLT

"… remove your penis and testicles." Like Rachel Levine did? Like Sarah McBride did? Like Lia Thomas did?
That is not the standard for self identifying as a woman and all of you know it. https://t.co/OUmPowJa1f

all these terfs

Oh so now you can come up with rules for what a woman is. Oh ok.
— EducatëdHillbilly™ (@RobProvince) August 31, 2026
Oh so now you're not really trans until you remove your penis? Is that the new Calvinball rule?
— Sunny (@sunnyright) August 31, 2026
Not required. Some women have penises. Stop gate keeping femininity.

Signed, the trans movement
You really don’t know the contours of the debate you’re wading into. We’ve been told for years that none of that is required to identify as a trans woman and in fact it’s bigoted to say otherwise. pic.twitter.com/Gx4J6TqdWY

If you read the article you’re commenting on, I explain that activists have explicitly rejected the medical model of transition. In California, a rapist doesn’t even need to take hormones to be sent to a women’s *prison*, never mind join a sports league. pic.twitter.com/Y1wxjp8YMA

Atlantic contributing editor, meet The Atlantic.
Why don't you have these requirements for male rapists who want to be in female prisons?
— Doghouse Reilly (@dreambigsleep) August 31, 2026
Why a different standard for them vs the men you let into woman’s restrooms and locker rooms?
— American Snarker (@americansnarker) August 30, 2026
Sorry no that’s not the rules. *Anyone* who feels like they’re a woman are a woman. These are your rules bud.
— Thomas Raffles (@TomRafflesJr) August 30, 2026
Less than 60% of trans women take hormone therapy and less than 10% have bottom surgery. Why are you insisting on it for folks who want to play in the WNBA?
— libertarianass (@libertarian_ass) August 30, 2026
Whoah, sir. Whoah.
— Political Sock (@politicalsock) August 31, 2026
Women are not defined by hormones and surgeries.
You seem to think a woman cannot have male parts, and that is just outright anti trans bigotry.
Delete your account.
This was never the standard. Stop gaslighting and forcing these women into treatments they may not want. It’s their body and their choice.
— Dark Rides (@TesRides) August 31, 2026
Why? That has never been the standard before. Why are you being a transphobe? They are stunning and brave. How dare you question their truth?
— The Real Art Watson (@wareagleart007) August 30, 2026
This was never a requirement to be a woman as early as last year. All you had to say was "I'm a woman" and you were.
— Lorien1973 (@Lorien19731) August 31, 2026
Do you think pumping them full of wrong-sex hormones and cutting their junk off will make them women?
— Barry Thain 🟥 (@mindsci) August 31, 2026
You know he doesn't. He'd still consider them men, biologically, because that's what they'd be. It's time for these transphobes like Ornstein to "commit to the bit."
