Reporter: Nevada gubernatorial candidate refuses to denounce Donald Trump's normalization of attacks on reporters

Joe Lombardo is the current Clark County Sheriff in Nevada and he’s running for governor. He caught our attention last month when he said in a text that he’d like to see Brian Greenspun, the owner of the Las Vegas Sun, out of business. The horror doesn’t end there, though.

As we all learned from the Donald Trump administration, the most endangered minority of them all was journalists. Poor Jim Acosta of CNN would be pegged to cover Trump rallies where the crowd would break into chants of, “CNN sucks.” Reporters at these rallies all thought they were going to be killed. Acosta even got a book out of it: “The Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America.” Yes, a dangerous time to tell the truth about the Steele dossier and the pee-pee tape and Trump having been a Russian agent dating back to the ’80s. So much danger!

(Speaking of Nevada, it was just this week that we learned of an elected official in Las Vegas being arrested in connection with the murder of a journalist. None of the tweets announcing the story happened to mention the elected official was a Democrat.)

So, with an actual murdered journalist on their hands, the Nevada Current’s Dana Resnick Gentry is reporting that Lombardo declined to denounce Trump’s normalization of attacks on reporters.

As a journalist, can you tell us when Trump normalized violence against journalists?

Will she write a column detailing all of the threats?
