As Twitchy reported, Karine Jean-Pierre opened her first press briefing as press secretary by announcing that she’s a black, gay, immigrant woman, which we all already knew. She’s the first who checks all three boxes to hold her position — once the straight, white woman bailed for a gig at MSNBC. We’re going to go ahead and assume that “April” is April Ryan because the question — and make no mistake, Jean-Pierre said it was a great question — is so very much on-brand.

Ryan is hearing “everywhere” how proud people are to have Jean-Pierre as White House press secretary. It’s all over social media. Jean-Pierre could have said, “It’s an honor” and left it at that, but she didn’t. But we’re just mansplaining.
