ADP: Companies 'unexpectedly' cut 301,000 jobs in January 'as omicron slams labor market'

On Monday, we got the feeling that this week’s jobs report was going to be bad because White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that 9 million people had called in sick because of the Omicron variant at the time data was taken — meaning they were out sick, not unemployed.

On Wednesday, CNBC published a report saying that 301,000 jobs were “unexpectedly” cut in January as the Omicron variant slammed the labor market. That’s a bit short of the Biden administration’s predictions.
