What terrorist threat? Networks lead off evening news with baseball suspensions

Judging by the ratings, a lot of people have been missing the network evening newscasts, but it’s especially damning when even CBS News’ own White House correspondent concludes that you’re not missing much. Alex Rodriguez’ 211-game suspension by Major League Baseball led all of the network news broadcasts, even while U.S. embassies around the globe are closed for a week due to credible threats from al-Qaida.

White House spokesman Jay Carney’s explanation for those dozens of CIA operatives on the ground in Benghazi last September might have produced a newsworthy soundbite, but as Twitchy reported, Friday’s press briefing was canceled, and no one bothered to ask him today about that bombshell report by CNN.
