Jennifer Rubin says President Biden was 'about a mile over the low bar' set for him by Trump and Putin at press conference

There’s nothing like blue-check journalists replying to other blue-check journalists on Twitter, especially when they’re “conservatives” like the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin reviewing President Biden’s performance at his first press conference, 64 days into his term.

We also like how New Yorker staff writer Susan Glasser brings up Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, the latter of whom challenged Biden to have an unscripted live “conversation” streamed over the internet. (Biden didn’t accept; he’s busy.)

To be fair, Biden didn’t do himself any favors by waiting longer than any other president in the last hundred years to hold a press conference. Even a very sympathetic Jake Tapper suggested he finally scheduled a press conference just to get people to stop talking about it.

Anyway, no matter who set it, the bar was set low, and while many would consider Biden a limbo champion, Rubin said Biden was “about a mile over” the low bar set for him. Just look at those “remarkably long” sentences he made it through.

Rubin’s probably typing up her column right now on what a brilliant performance Biden gave.
