'Kill me': Listeners beg for death after hearing Brad Paisley's 'Accidental Racist'

Ouch. It’s not a career killer by a long shot, but “Accidental Racist,” a track off of country superstar Brad Paisley’s new album, is taking a beating on Twitter today. Just what is accidental racism? Well, it’s something that happens when you wear a Confederate flag T-shirt to get coffee and the barista is black, apparently.

To the man that waited on me at the Starbucks down on Main
I hope you understand
When I put on that T-shirt
The only thing I meant to say is I’m a Skynyrd fan

If you endure the song long enough, rapper LL Cool J drops by for a guest verse to confess his own prejudice against cowboy hats. As the AV Club observes, people of all races can surely agree that this track stinks.

Even Salon, whose editor-at-large Joan Walsh published a book called “What’s the Matter with White People,” couldn’t pretend to like it, calling it “bizarre.”

Not everyone hates “Accidental Racist,” technically speaking. At least one person has admitted to liking it.
