Oh, my. As Twitchy reported yesterday, Kevin Clash took a leave of absence after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a minor. Today, the accuser has apparently recanted.
The accuser has remained anonymous. The recantation came in a statement via a law firm. The statement did not include an apology to Clash.

Kevin Clash statement: "I am relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest. I will not discuss it further."

Now: will every media outlet that wrote long stories about Elmo yesterday write equally long stories today?

Twitchy will monitor this story and update with further developments.
The “Being Elmo” Twitter feed tweeted this yesterday:
In response to the inquiries we have received, we would like to share Sesame Workshop's statement: http://t.co/YNORL3fO

No reaction yet to the recantation. Twitter users, however, do react.

Overjoyed that the Kevin Clash story was bunk. Maybe this isn't the darkest timeline after all. #Elmo

Somewhere in a Sesame Street backlot, Mr. Snuffleupagus is waiting for his turn at Twitter fame. #Elmo #Bigbird

First Romney tries to take down Big Bird, then a 23-year-old kid tries to take down Elmo. Watch your back, Cookie Monster.

So which 4-star general is going to be implicated with Elmo's little friend?
