I really was sad to see this video. The two girls were likely terrified and the Dad was just trying to be a loving parent. The older man was out of pocket, but trying to protect his family in his mind. It was many people with good intentions and one of them went way too far.
This father was on a road trip with his two young daughters & they needed to go to the restroom so he stopped at a QT & took them in the women’s restroom since no one was in it & a man came yelling at him to get out & called the cops. The girls were crying & then he assaulted him. pic.twitter.com/MkEqO33iSW

So, the Dad took his two daughters in the restroom because there was not a woman with him to help the girls. Because the trans community have made bathroom issues such a hot button topic, the older man was shocked to see a man in a bathroom and said he was scaring his wife. It was very out of hand.

please be honest:
Would you be comfortable with a father bringing his young daughters into the women’s restroom if it’s completely empty, so the girls feel safe and at ease?
Yes. I spoke with my son about this today (my son is an adult).

I told him if he ever has this issue with his own kids, I'd suggest:
a. look for a family restroom if available.
b. Open the ladies' room door and ask if it's occupied. If not, let the girls go in and stand at the… https://t.co/idIEmX0auH
My son asked me my thoughts on the video and that was my explanation to him of what probably should have happened. Unfortunately, in the heat of the moment, it is sometimes difficult to know exactly what to do.
Obviously, I don't spend time in men's restrooms so I asked my son this, too. Why not take his little girls to the men's room. My son reminded me men are exposed at the urinals and some men let their trousers fall down (usually older men) and you can see their behind at the… https://t.co/b5lwMTJPv4

Like most women, I don't spend time in the men's restroom, so I didn't think through the logistics. Men were happy to explain why taking his daughters into the men's bathroom was not the move.
No. Dads can do what my Dad always did.

He can wait, with his daughter until a woman arrives and he can politely ask her to take his daughter into the toilet. https://t.co/WlmKTAkx9B
I don't think this is a terrible idea, but sometimes littles wait until the last minute and there isn't time to wait until a pleasant stranger to come along.

As a mom of boys who was often having to watch them by myself when they were young, allowing them to go into the men’s room by themselves was nerve racking.
I would never want a dad to have to take his girls in the men’s room or have to sit outside while his little… https://t.co/n3p4RFGZif
The best solution is more family bathrooms. Hopefully, businesses will start adding more of those to new buildings. As Dads take on more parenting duties, this is best for families.
