Forget History, Repeat It: PA House Dems Vote to End School Choice

Pennsylvania Democrats are about to learn a very hard lesson. Florida Democrats messed around in 2018 and found out. Apparently, Pennsylvania Dems are going to do the same in 2026. What's that they say about those who forget history are destined to repeat it?

In the 2018 Florida Governor's race, Andrew Gillum was the Democrat candidate. He thought it was a good idea to speak out against school choice and promise to end school choice vouchers

Believe it or not, Republican Ron DeSantis owes his victory in the Florida gubernatorial election to about 100,000 African-American women who unexpectedly chose him over the black Democratic candidate, Andrew Gillum.

Of the roughly 650,000 black women who voted in Florida, 18% chose Mr. DeSantis, according to CNN’s exit poll of 3,108 voters. This exceeded their support for GOP U.S. Senate candidate Rick Scott (9%), Mr. DeSantis’s performance among black men (8%) and the GOP’s national average among black women (7%).+

It's estimated about 69,000 people voted for DeSantis who had previously voted for Democrats because their children would lose their beloved schools. That's about the amount of votes that put DeSantis over the top and into the Governor's mansion in Tallahassee. Yep, it's true.

School choice saved Florida from this mess.

Now, the Pennsylvania GOP has a huge opportunity to speak to parents in their state who may now be terrified their options for their children's education are dwindling.

This isn't just a state issue. If the Democrats get control of Congress, they will try to end school choice on the federal level. They will most certainly try to close schools run by religious organizations. If education is the civil rights issue of our time, it's time to fight for it.

Because Democrats work at the behest of Teacher's Unions. Period. They don't care about children in failing schools. That truth may hurt, but it's the truth nonetheless.
