Don Lemon is the worst kind of American. He's gay and a minority, but has been able to acquire massive wealth, fame and lives a beautiful lifestyle (when he isn't in jail for interrupting a church service with a mob). Even with all of that, things that would never be available to him in other countries, Lemon still degrades America. Why doesn't he go live in Iran? They'd kill him for being gay and he'd lose his life if he ever spoke poorly of the government. Lemon criticizes the United States and Trump daily without fear.

It's not that the public is stupid. It's people don't pay attention. Most people want to be kind and accepting and have busy lives so they just take bits and pieces of political commentary they hear from various social media sites. Rather than fully thinking through issues, they take things at face value and they are missing tons of context. That's how people like Lemon become popular.
