Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I wanted to take a moment to wish you, our dear readers, a wonderful holiday! I am so very thankful for all of you. Because you take the time to read my article daily (almost), you help provide for my family. Your readership allows my daughter to attend college without loans, allows me to help my son pay for his upcoming wedding and you help me pay my bills, in general. I am so blessed to get to do something I love (snark and talk about politics) and earn a living doing it.
We already celebrated Thanksgiving on Saturday because my son is a First Responder and has to work on Thursday. It was a wonderful day and it was lovely to have so many of my family members together. Since losing my Dad several years ago, I appreciate every holiday so much more. I know how fleeting and uncertain life really is and I do my best to savor each day. I know some people don't have family or friends to share this day with. To each of you, know I am thinking of you tomorrow and praying for your solace and peace.
On a more humorous note, this tweet by the AP about your turkey preparation got some hilarious responses and it's definitely worth a read.
As Thanksgiving gets closer, health experts have one big reminder: don’t rinse your turkey, chicken or any other poultry. pic.twitter.com/zgVLx22NXc

I through my turkey through a quick cycle in the washer/dryer and it does wonders to sterilize and soften up the meat

Obviously! That's the only way to do it.
How many people handled that turkey before it got to your counter? I assume they are perfectly clean?

What about the microplastics from the packaging?
Washing gets rid of the slimy film caused by packaging.
You do you, but I'm rinsing the bird.
Of course, there were the rebels.
I prefer to listen to the screams of millions of dying bacteria from my oven at 375 degrees for 2 hours and not splash it all over my kitchen. Because science.

Eat the cancer we sprayed on the food and quit trying to wash it off because you don't know how to use disinfecting wipes to clean your counters.

Thanks Federal Government. pic.twitter.com/edNIuRVOpa
Still others are sure this is a plot by the federal government to kill us all.
Don't do the thing you've been doing your entire lives, it's dangerous!

The replies. Mother of God the replies. Thank you, @AP https://t.co/Tw58mkEAwq

It was clearly their gift to us this Thanksgiving.
This is good advice UNLESS you wash the turkey with soap like I do. Always wash the turkey with soap. https://t.co/DC3AaGxxaa

Leave it to Jarvis to give the worst advice possibly.
If any germs survive 450° in the oven, they deserve to live https://t.co/dlXgjjEt8A

Those are some hearty germs.
Wash your turkey or not, stuff your turkey or cook the dressing separately, just make sure to enjoy your day. I am thankful to be an American and our country is the greatest place on Earth to live.
