Atty Forgets to Click Off Gun Safety in Botched Ambush of Ex-Wife — Until a Hero Waiter Tackles Him

Fuzzy Chimp

Sometimes, the safety on a gun works exactly as needed and this was one of those times.

This former attorney wanted to kill his ex-wife. His brilliant plan was walk into a restaurant and just do it.

One problem. He forgot to take the safety off.

The second problem for him?

A very brave waiter.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG/Gray News) - A former attorney accused of trying to shoot and kill his ex-wife inside an Ohio restaurant full of patrons has been convicted, authorities said.

A Lucas County jury found Matthew Exton, 43, guilty of attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault and multiple firearm specifications.

The jury found Exton not guilty on a remaining count of felonious assault.

On April 11, 2025, Exton ordered a drink at the bar inside a restaurant in Toledo. After leaving the restaurant, he saw his ex-wife and her family at another restaurant next door, according to Lucas County Prosecuting Attorney Julia R. Bates.

That waiter deserves a parade in his honor.

That's why men are needed in society. Each sex has our own strength. The job of women is to alert to danger. Heh.

Oh, be nice.

While he's sitting in jail like a big dummy.

Ha! That's a distinct possibility.

She's pointing out the suspect for the police. Lulz.

Pretty sure that guy's testosterone was close to non-existent, but the joke can stand with everything else going on in today's legal system (See Lindsay Clancy trial, for example).

It's never worth it.

There is a new person to watch every time you watch the clip. What a circus.
