Erika Kirk bravely sat for a lengthy interview published today, and it was a true testament to her bravery and grace. One particular portion really stood out to me.

"Around her neck was the pendant of St. Michael that her husband was wearing when he was shot. The medics had ripped it from his body while attempting to stop the bleeding. A trace of blood remained in the crevice of the cross."

Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, told the @NYTimes that it should be the state’s decision about whether to pursue the death penalty against his alleged assassin, reasoning that if she pushed for such a consequence, this could jeopardize her own salvation. https://t.co/boczocv05c

It would be so easy for Erika to demand 'an eye for an eye'. Most everyone would support and few could blame her. She refused to do that though. Her reason? She did not want that to be the reason she missed Heaven and her opportunity to be with Charlie again. What love. Most of us will only imagine that level of devotion to another human this side of glory.

a key purpose of government is in fact to abstract such difficult personal moral decisions, I feel she is taking a wise and highly defensible view here. https://t.co/0n1F3nI4Zp

That would be a terrible decision for a widow to make. Particularly a widow who believes in Jesus. A widow who knows we are all saved because Christ laid down His own life for us and without that, we would all perish.
Proof that Ms.Kirk "walks the walk" as we say. An example of being pro-life in the worst and most difficult circumstances. Something to admire and for everyone to consider and think about.

This article is more evidence Charlie Kirk found a wife as righteous as him. He was able to do all the things he did in his short time on Earth because he was so equally yoked with an amazing partner. Their eyes were both fixed on Jesus and eternity, and as a result, they operated with a Kingdom mindset.
Catholics are pro life from conception to natural death. Catholics do not support the death penalty.

It's one thing not to support the death penalty as a concept. It's quite another not to support it when it was your own husband killed by the bullet of a madman. Then, it must be very tempting to support the death penalty.
God be with her. She’s being called to something no one is equipped for. May she live and breathe in the Trinity.

She is a young mother with young children, facing challenges no woman should endure. Her grace and steadfast representation of Christ's love are truly admirable. St. Michael defend her in battle.
