Apparently, the PR firm Jake Tapper hired sent him on an apology tour from the looks of it.
Jake Tapper keeps saying: "looking back, I have humility about my coverage." He repeats it like a zombie.

He hired a PR crisis firm and that's exactly the sort of thing they coach you to say so it appears you're holding yourself accountable even though you're not. https://t.co/OsrV5HhmGO
It's most definitely PR speak after he realized the public was not buying his fake apologies and he was getting constantly roasted on Twitter.
A lot of people are dunking on @jaketapper for his interview with @megynkelly.

I take the EXACT opposite view: Jake's willingness to admit that he (and the rest of the media) could have done a better of covering the story in real-time is how we start to rebuild trust in the… pic.twitter.com/VGJ6Ts7bHe
Unsurprisingly, Jake Tapper's Corporate Media peers are rushing to his defense. Some even claim he deserves praise for admitting he could’ve covered Biden’s decline better. Spare me! If Tapper couldn’t see something was seriously wrong with Joe Biden over the past four years, he lacks the instincts for journalism and should find a new career. This was not a well concealed plan only a seasoned detective would uncover. The general public could see it.
Jake Tapper willfully ignored a national scandal. He knew the elected president wasn’t leading the country, that aides and appointees were calling the shots, and he was fine with it. Why? Because Tapper’s sole priority is shielding Democrats. That should disqualify him from journalism.
You don’t get to rebuild trust. That’s not how the world works, propaganda man. https://t.co/oQv0txL26K

Correct! Once you worked as an arm of state media repeating the lines they fed you, you don't get to come back.
I also give Tapper some credit for admitting he and the mainstream media were wrong

I'd give him a lot more if he weren't making money by admitting that he and the mainstream media was wrong. https://t.co/EIEqsS3Tnp
No. No, it isn’t.

You guys do this all the time - see, e.g., Russiagate, Hunter’s laptop, the lab leak theory, etc.
Admitting you got it wrong after the fact and promising to do better is a crutch. It lets you wriggle out of anything approaching accountability. https://t.co/zXTiowJTex
Media figures cozy up to Democrats, basking in their favor, only to toss out half-hearted apologies when the inevitable backlash hits. It’s like an unfaithful spouse caught in the act—thinking they can indulge in the thrill of an affair, then wipe the slate clean with crocodile tears and a few token gestures. Once they get away with it, the cycle repeats, emboldened by the knowledge that a quick apology will always smooth things over.
You can’t rebuild trust in the media. This wasn’t a mistake or being human. This was LYING. This was on purpose. No sane person is going to trust a person who is now making money off a scandal they participated in to fool the American people. ALL your lies have caught up to you.

The only acceptable conclusion is for Tapper (and many others) to take their millions and find a new line of work. They owe that to the public.
