Federal Job Loss Meets Private Reality—and Massive Media Bias

Earlier today, we shared the story of a recently terminated federal employee who was vocal about losing her government position. She insisted on emphasizing her skills, confidently claiming she could land a private-sector job in under 24 hours. However, she’s about to discover a harsh reality of the private workforce: job security is never guaranteed. In most cases, you can be let go at any moment, with or without cause.

Twitter is abuzz with stories from across the nation, spanning every corner of the workforce, about the harsh reality of job losses. People share their struggles—the mounting pressure of paying bills, the uncertainty surrounding severance packages, and the overwhelming sense of despair that accompanies the experience. It’s a prospect no one welcomes; in truth, it’s something widely feared and deeply unsettling. The issue is none of these federal workers or their friends in the Press cared until it began to effect them.

This wave of hardship follows in the wake of COVID-19. The job losses and widespread closure of small businesses during the pandemic have cast a long shadow, leaving behind enduring consequences that continue to ripple through communities and livelihoods.
Perhaps this could be a turning point for Corporate Media, a chance to finally absorb a hard-earned lesson. Yet, it’s far more probable they’ll retreat once again into their insular bubbles, fixating solely on the affairs of their inner circles. Should they choose that familiar path, they can brace themselves for an ongoing exodus of readers and viewers, their influence steadily bleeding away.
