Actor Kevin Sorbo slams 'wonderful world of mediocrity' after school nixes honors night

A Massachusetts school has merged its exclusive honors night with an all-inclusive end-of-year assembly. The principal called the annual celebration of achievement “devastating to a child who has worked extremely hard in a difficult class but who, despite growth, has not been able to maintain a high grade point average.”

The Blaze reports that the principal later clarified that students who excel will still be rewarded at the assembly, but it will no longer be a “devastating” special event.

On Facebook, actor Kevin Sorbo ripped into the culture that produces participation trophies and Nobel Prizes for the undeserving.

Ah, socialism. The wonderful world of mediocrity takes another step in America since it has worked so well for Europe. Greece, Spain, Italy and France can celebrate that we are on our way to be just as wonderful as they are. We are all the same, after all. Bill Gates isn’t smarter than me. Just lucky. Tiger Woods isn’t a better golfer than me. It is unfair to all golfers that he wins so much. We should all win and get a green jacket and a million dollars for winning The Masters. Not fair to make other golfers “feel bad”.

Twitter users share his frustration.
