The Biden administration is reportedly moving toward recommending booster shots for many Americans “pending FDA authorization”:
Top admin health officials are coalescing around an agreement that most Americans should get a booster shot eight months after becoming fully vaccinated, according to two sources familiar with the discussions. Could be announced this week. All pending FDA authorization.

The plan would aim to first give a third jab to healthcare workers and the elderly:

However, Johns Hopkins epidemiologist Dr. Jennifer Nuzzo warned that these boosters may “undermine the global response to covid” and she wants to see more data to show that boosters will actually keep people out of the hospital:
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. This decision will undermine the global response to covid. Show us that boosters are necessary to keep “most people” out of the hospital. https://t.co/R9IOR9XZXe

About a month ago, Dr. Anthony Fauci said he didn’t seed the need for a booster shot:

But, now, they’re seeing results out of Israel that have health experts concerned:
In interview with @hughhewitt, @NIHDirector cites Israeli data on breakthrough cases for the booster dose decision:
"That’s the same thing we’re starting to see in the U.S. data … we don’t want to wait until it’s like oh, too late"https://t.co/1OoAUJ9qOV https://t.co/WwK6vG6MaG pic.twitter.com/aYZmcFTBru

Fauci also discounted a study out of the Mayo Clinic that suggested the Moderna vaccine was more effective than Pfizer’s:
On FTN, Fauci says confounding factors may account for Mayo data that seemed to show Moderna outperforming Pfizer against July infections.
But he adds: "The original dose of the Moderna is about 3 times what the dose of the Pfizer is. So you may have a difference in durability."

As for this third dose, many aren’t waiting on the FDA, Fauci or anyone else:
