We regret to inform the COVID-19 alarmists that we’ll be just fine now that the Delta variant is taking hold here in the United States.
From infectious disease expert Amesh Adalja, on MSNBC no less:
On wearing masks amid rising delta variant concerns, @AmeshAA: "Fully vaccinated people do not have anything really to fear from the delta variant. The CDC recommendation is something I recommend and I follow. You don't need to wear a mask…" (1/2) #AMRstaff

And we “are going to be protected from the delta variant because we’ve had many of the high-risk people vaccinated”:
.@AmeshAA: "… if you're fully vaccinated. We are going to be protected from the delta variant because we've had many of the high-risk people vaccinated. We're not going go into a crisis because of delta variant, since 77%+ of the seniors are fully vaccinated." (2/2) #AMRstaff

Dr. Scott Gottlieb said the same thing on CNBC earlier today:
"Our mitigation should be reactive not proactive. We shouldn't be shutting things down, putting in mask mandates in anticipation of spread. We should do it when we see signs of spread … I don't think we should be implementing mask mandates," @ScottGottliebMD on #deltavariant. pic.twitter.com/0PdYrrNthX

Based on what’s happening in the UK, unvaccinated people are getting it but hospitalizations and deaths are not rising:
The UK, an important bellwether for what happens when the Delta variant is near 100% and vaccination rates are high: The cases keep rising but hospitalizations and deaths are pretty flat and holdinghttps://t.co/pItJxXPpv6 pic.twitter.com/hmlTApOfDA

In other words, the vaccines are working:
There's so much alarmist talk about the Delta variant at the moment but deaths in the UK are practically flat.
Cases have been surging for over a month – yet today recorded just 14 deaths.
There's no question the vaccines are working extremely well. pic.twitter.com/A89qAzyOzr

The CDC isn’t changing its recommendations, at least not yet:
Dr. Rochelle Walensky says the CDC is leaving it up to local officials to set guidelines for mask-wearing as the highly contagious delta variant of the coronavirus surges in areas with low vaccination rates. https://t.co/OmI6uv3rUh

But Los Angeles County, however, IS recommending mask-wearing indoors again but is not yet mandating it:
LA County’s Health Dept. becomes the first to recommend vaccinated and unvaccinated ppl go back to masking up to prevent spread of the Covid delta variant https://t.co/giXnhEgg3b
