The hallmark of a fake apology is when the person doing the apologizing apologizes if you were offended, which is exactly what CNN’s Sally Kohn just did after getting called out yesterday for sharing a meme accusing Paul Ryan of going on a “killing spree”:
All trying to make rhetoric sharp but not lethal. I thought this poster was harmlessly clever. Apologies if anyone was offended.

Fake. Fake. Fake.
"If" as in "I'm not really sorry." https://t.co/SSv81H1hvv

“Harmlessly clever,” she says. Here is that clever bit of rhetoric again ICYMI:

"Harmlessly clever."
You're a disgrace. https://t.co/B3WBOTYLtm

It's not offensive, you dumb ass.
It's hypocritical to decry violent rhetoric and then praise a poster like that.
You. Dumb. Ass. https://t.co/JI9hEfa2ph

And notice she didn’t delete it:
You're so intellectually dishonest I don't understand how you ever get booked for television. If you don't mean to offend folks, DELETE THAT https://t.co/gHz2Xdx1Bt
