Earlier today, President Obama announced his plan to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and move the terrorists to an as of yet undisclosed prison in the U.S.
It wasn’t received well by Republicans.
Here’s Sen Pat Roberts reacting to the plan by crumpling it up into a ball and throwing it in the bin:
.@POTUS, this is what I think of the "plan" to close #GITMO and send terrorists to the United States. pic.twitter.com/5ceyu5I2tc

Two points!
Sen. Tim Scott has been on a tear, too, although without the cool video:
Remember: In the last 6 months, nearly 90% of Congress has voted to bar transfer of terrorists to domestic facilities.#Guantanamo
— Tim Scott (@SenatorTimScott) February 23, 2016
30 percent recidivism rate for those transferred out, including this leader of al Qaeda: https://t.co/78RxLC2TYO #Guantanamo
— Tim Scott (@SenatorTimScott) February 23, 2016
The location @WhiteHouse is looking at in South Carolina is within five miles of a dozen schools, multiple neighborhoods. #Guantanamo
— Tim Scott (@SenatorTimScott) February 23, 2016
The law couldn’t be clearer: @WhiteHouse doesn’t have authority to move dozens of dangerous terrorists to American communities #Guantanamo
— Tim Scott (@SenatorTimScott) February 23, 2016
No reason to put a target on an American community; we already have an isolated facility, well-guarded by Marines: #Guantanamo
— Tim Scott (@SenatorTimScott) February 23, 2016
I’ll use every tool at my disposal to stop this illegal, reckless plan from moving forward. Period. #Guantanamo
— Tim Scott (@SenatorTimScott) February 23, 2016
Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado weighed in as well:
Moving #GTMO terrorists to the U.S. is a grave threat to Colorado and our national security: https://t.co/UUy9NgBsRk

Majority Leader Paul Ryan:
The President's plan to close #Gitmo is not only reckless, but illegal. Stand against it: https://t.co/776xL0rrjL pic.twitter.com/CdbhvwedoW

Sen. Dave Perdue of Georgia:
Americans will not stand the thought of placing terrorists on U.S. soil. #GITMO https://t.co/KEt7DAPcID pic.twitter.com/YQcVDkPieR

Sen. John Thune of S.D.:
President Obama is putting American communities at risk with his plan to close #Gitmo & move terrorists stateside. https://t.co/IUbf3RMNOl
— Senator John Thune (@SenJohnThune) February 23, 2016
Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio:
I urge the president to reconsider his dangerous plan to import these terrorists into our homeland. #Gitmo
— Rob Portman (@senrobportman) February 23, 2016
In other words, Obama’s plan will never happen.
