As our own Aaron Walker reported, Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, a 28-year-old Venezuelan national, was shot and wounded by ICE agents in Austin on Sunday. Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna was hit with a Community Note on X on Monday when he posted that Perez was "denied urgent medical care." EMTs transported Perez to Dell Seton Medical Center, and ABC News reported on Tuesday that Perez had just been released from the hospital and was back in federal custody.
Prepare now to hear about Mario David Coronado-Juarez, who Rep. Rashida Tlaib posted on Thursday was killed by ICE. According to Tlaib, Juarez was a construction worker who was sending money home to his kids in Guatemala.

Wait, ICE caused a fatal car crash? Was Coronado-Juarez fleeing from a traffic stop? Because if he'd pulled over and complied with ICE agents, ICE wouldn't have pursued him.

As officers attempted the stop to confirm the identity of the driver, the driver of the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. In the interest of public safety, ICE officers immediately discontinued the enforcement action. A short time later, officers saw smoke nearly half a mile from the attempted stop and discovered the vehicle had crashed into a tree and caught fire. Officers immediately attempted to render aid and extinguish the fire until the Grand Rapids Police Department and Fire Department arrived. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by local officials. Officials also estimated that the suspect’s vehicle was traveling well over 100 miles per hour when the crash occurred.
Upon further investigation the driver of the vehicle was Mario David Coronado-Juarez and not the vehicle’s registered owner. Coronado-Juarez was an illegal alien from Guatemala who was previously removed by Border Patrol from the United States in 2021. He re-entered the country, a felony, at an unknown date and location.
Resisting officers and evading arrest is dangerous for our officers, illegal aliens, and the public.

So, DHS says ICE officers discontinued the chase in the interest of public safety, because Coronado-Juarez took off at well over 100 miles per hour. It sounds like a car crash killed him, not ICE.
He came illegally in 2021, driving a car not registered to him, fled from ICE in which for public safety stopped pursuit because he was driving over a freaking hundred miles an hour when shortly afterwards hit a tree. He caused it himself you vile bitch.

This happened on Sunday, the same day Perez was shot and wounded. They're still talking about Perez in the press, but this is the first we've seen about Coronado-Juarez. Maybe the facts of the case — most notably that ICE didn't kill him — have kept his death from becoming a media staple.
