Sally Kohn gets fact-checked on claim that guns kill 10,000 kids per year

Sally Kohn has a new piece up where she claims guns kill “10,000 kids per year.”

The source for the information, however, seems to be something Kohn heard from Ashleigh Banfield. Here’s her opener:

Recently, my CNN colleague Mel Robbins made a startling point. Robbins was on “Legal View” to discuss the case of an 11-year-old who shot and killed an 8-year-old neighbor when host Ashleigh Banfield noted that 10,000 children are killed by guns every year.

Too bad she didn’t bother to check if this was accurate or not because she’s off. By a lot.
