As we wrote earlier, IRGC chief General Qasem Soleimani — who is tied to American deaths during the Iraq war — is reportedly on the list of Iranians who will get sanctions relief as a result of the just signed Iran deal.
But now the U.S. is saying this isn’t so, arguing it’s a different Qasem Soleimani who is on the list:
Strange. The WH & John Kerry say Iran spy chief Soleimani is not taken off the sanctions list. Iran says he is. https://t.co/zzR5lIMp4G

US sources say Qasem Soleimani having sanctions lifted in #IranDeal not Qasem Soleimani IRGC commander. Another Qasem Soleimani! #IranDeal

Whether THE Soleimani or A Soleimani, IRGC, Quds Force & other IRGC entities all on list to have sanctions removed as part of #IranDeal

US officials insist the Qassem Soleimani named in #IranDeal isn't the IRGC commander. And yet… https://t.co/2gxFx4ABrx

Iran thinks it’s the same guy, however:
Based on Iran-Six Powers agreement, Major Gen. Qassem Soleimani will be taken off sanctions lists. #IranTalksVienna pic.twitter.com/P4y4eDCoSB

Or maybe it’s just the EU who is lifting sanctions:
Some confusion over whether sanctions on Soleimani and the Quds Force will be lifted. I'm told it may only be the EU doing so.

So, who’s correct?
