This really doesn’t make much sense. Earlier we noted that while Mayor Bill de Blasio was warning of what could be one of the worst blizzards in New York City history and telling people to stay inside on Monday, the public schools in the city would still be open.
Now New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued a similar warning, asking for commuters to stay home because public transportation might be affected by the storm:
.@MTA will begin storing trains underground tomorrow night to protect fleet from the elements. Storm preparations: http://t.co/JHJViKyBBm

We urge commuters to stay home if possible on Monday. Roads & public transit in Hudson Valley, NYC & LI may close due to historic blizzard.

Work from home Monday if possible, or plan to leave work early Monday midday as a massive Nor’Easter approaches NYS. http://t.co/1xT8AYddLO

But, again … why are NYC schools still open if it’s expected to be this bad?
Also of note, NYC schools aren’t cancelling exams for tomorrow, so really, some students and teachers have to go to classes on Monday:
Update for tomorrow Monday, Jan. 26: all HS Regents Exams as scheduled
— NYC Public Schools (@NYCSchools) January 25, 2015
Based on expected storm, all after-school activities, PSAL, adult ed, field trips canceled on 1/26. Regents exams as scheduled.

What’s a parent to do? Stay home, as per the government’s request or have their kids go to school and potentially be trapped there?
