The popular ride-sharing company Uber has a less-than-popular pricing policy that charges more money for rides during peak times. For example, rides last night and early this morning were subject to this “surge pricing” as once the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, everybody wants to go home, increasing the demand for car rides home:
