Emmys host Michael Che told a joke about Jesus at tonight’s award show out in Los Angeles, saying that the only white people who win awards that thank Jesus are Republicans and ex-crackheads:

From Fox News:
During Che’s opening monologue with his fellow “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost, Che explained that his mother would not be watching the show on Monday night.
“My mother is not watching,” Che said. “She says she doesn’t like watching white award shows because you guys don’t thank Jesus enough.”
He continued, “That’s true. The only white people that thank Jesus are Republicans and ex-crackheads.”
Later on in the show, after the first 6 award winners were white, Che brought the joke up again, saying “6 awards in, all white winners, and nobody thanked Jesus yet”:

Liberal Emmys executives hoped for a divers Emmys but the liberal Emmys voters keep voting for the white liberal actors, and the big joke of the night is about Christian Republicans?
"One white woman won twice and still didn't thank Jesus" said the almost never funny Michael Che. Brilliant observation. That white woman is also Jewish….. #Emmys #EmmyAwards2018

And right on cue, Merritt Wever wins the Emmy outstanding actress in a limited series. The name of that series is “Godless”:

Chrissy Teigen did thank Jesus. Well, sort of:
"Thank you, Jesus," Chrissy Teigen tells her husband John Legend, who played the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar. That one was for Michael Che, she joked. #Emmys

Maybe they’re trying to make it the least watched Emmys ever?
#Emmys host Michael Che says the only white people who thank Jesus at award shows are Republicans, ‘ex-crackheads’.
Keep it up. America is shifting further and further to the right.
