Papa Johns management claimed on an earnings conference call earlier today that the NFL national anthem protests are hurting the company’s sales and CEO John Schnatter blamed NFL “leadership” for the “current debacle”:
On 3Q earnings call, @papajohns CEO John Schnatter blames "NFL leadership" for "current debacle" between players and owners. Stock is -5%

"Good or bad, leadership starts at the top and this is an example of poor leadership," Schnatter said.

"This should have been nipped in the bud a year and a half ago," Schnatter said.

Are other advertisers seeing the same decline?
Papa Johns says NFL ratings being down (except for MNF, yay) is to blame for their revenue falling short of exp. (But wings places r fine)

Regardless, many on Twitter are calling out Papa Johns for criticizing the protests:
Hey Papa Johns, how bout addressing why the protests are happening …instead of ur missed earnings mark??♂️

But this is a little over-the-top:
Papa Johns states a fact that they believe their sales are down due to the NFL anthem protests… so OF COURSE they're called racists… pic.twitter.com/IzDPnlrGy7

Over-the-top, but predictable.
