Matt Walsh has managed to inflame the liberal Twittersphere over a cartoon mermaid. Yep, you read that correctly.
Media Matters Senior Researcher, Jason Campbell, shared a clip of The Daily Wire’s The Matt Walsh Show, where Walsh states that The Little Mermaid should be ‘totally pale and skeletal where you can see her skull’.
The comment came on the tail end of Walsh’s actual commentary about the race of an actor being a factor in casting decisions. His translucent Ariel argument was clearly a joke … at least, it should have been clear.

The mermaid racism hall monitors of Twitter were quick to let Walsh know that they don’t understand jokes and have too much free time on their fins.

The funny thing about these exchanges is they’re so eager to run headfirst into the fray, screaming ‘RAAAAACIST!’ that they often reveal their own prejudice. They’re so blinded by imagining racists everywhere they can’t catch an obvious joke. He’s making a ‘scientific’ argument about a cartoon mermaid. That should have been your first clue. Ha!
