As Twitchy readers know, Matt Walsh’s Twitter account was hacked and his emails stolen. A WIRED reporter, Dell Cameron, was even suspended from Twitter for reaching out to the hackers and posting ‘proof’ of the hack on the social media platform. Well, Matt is back. Things may be about to get interesting.
Hey, been gone for a couple days. Did I miss anything important?
— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) April 19, 2023
LOL! Oh nothing big, Matt.
Matt Walsh hosts his own podcast and writes for the Daily Wire. He’s no stranger to controversy and even invites it with his trolling of the Left and bare-bones unvarnished viewpoints. It’s kind of his thing.
He frankly doesn’t even have to try very hard these days. We used to have to be a bit more creative to really spin leftists into a tizzy. These days, Walsh just has to say, ‘Hey, women don’t have penises!’ and you’d think he’d just proposed a nuclear strike on New York.
So, yeah, he has no shortage of enemies who would like to harm him.
Yes. New woke cartoons pic.twitter.com/pGB9iYlLm1

You missed the woke cartoons, Walsh! Brocahontas … LOL.
What up my sassy shoota??

Ha! Slow down, fellas! This is gonna go straight to his head.
Gotta test it…

Best security question ever!
It wasn’t all fun and games, however, as Walsh promised there would be consequences for the hack.

Over the last year my family has been harassed, threatened, doxxed, and now we can add hacked to the list. Apparently the hacker had an "insider" who gave him access to my phone. A lot we still don't know. But we're finding out. And there will be consequences.
— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) April 19, 2023
Don’t read too much into this yet. An ‘insider’ doesn’t necessarily mean a person who works with Walsh. It could just as easily be a support person who works for his phone provider who was duped or acted illegally.
One thing is for certain: People who use these types of tactics need to pay if it’s ever going to stop.
I hope the consequences will be severe. I hope you will make this person an example to others!!

This is the way.
Looks like you got sim jacked. This should be a lesson to everyone that tying everything to one phone number and one email address is really bad. Good luck.

This seems to be the likely explanation for the hack, according to many Tweeters.
Essentially, a hacker tricks a support person with your phone service provider (or bribes them) to transfer your phone number to their phone, claiming it was lost or stolen. Once they have access to your phone number, things get really ugly. You know how companies send a code to your phone as part of the login process, like your bank … or Twitter, depending on what you’re trying to do? Imagine that code now being sent to a criminal. Not good.
Search ‘SIM swapping’ to learn about precautions you can take to avoid becoming the next Matt Walsh. Like … figuratively. You can’t just identify as Matt Walsh … unless you hack his phone … Anyhoo …
See, we here at Twitchy bring you the latest news, funny tweets, and provide state-of-the-art phone security advice!
Wow, poor baby, all that for relentlessly being horrible in public? https://t.co/ejzfChSIKs

This seems to be the consensus from the Left. We picked one of the tamer ones. Essentially, Matt Walsh and his family deserve the threats because he says things liberals don’t like.
In fact, his primary ‘sin’ of late is pointing out that men can’t be women. That’s really why the hate for Walsh has gone off the charts.
‘No, you’re actually a man because you have XY chromosomes’ has become the pinnacle expression of bigotry to the activist Left.
Because that’s so much worse than telling people your political opponents are Nazis, white supremacists, racists, KKK members, and grandma killers …
I have also made note of the members of the media who openly solicited stolen information from my phone. There will be consequences there too. Fortunately we can afford very good lawyers.

He’s looking at you, WIRED. Hopefully, Walsh finds some traction in the justice system. That’s what it’s going to take to return to debating with words, instead of violent ‘peaceful’ protests, doxxing, hacking, and death threats.
