Jonathan Vigliotti, reporting for CBS News, alerted their viewers that the outfit would be entering a trial separation from Twitter. It may be that CBS News still loves Twitter – they’re just not ‘in love’ with Twitter.
Is this a Ross and Rachel situation? We’re picturing Jim Axelrod dealing with an irate Norah O’Donnell after posting to Mastodon: ‘We were on a break!’
It’s not clear yet. Here’s Vigliotti’s very nebulous and generally meaningless statement:
‘In light of the uncertainty around Twitter, and out of an abundance of caution, CBS News is pausing its activity on the social media site, as it continues to monitor the platform.’
CBS News and its owned and operated stations are “pausing” activity on Twitter; blaming “uncertainty” on the platform. pic.twitter.com/Pv1gEQjQJH

We’re not sure what ‘uncertainty around Twitter’ means, or why an ‘abundance of caution’ is needed for simply sharing their news reports publicly – something they do through every other platform available to them regularly.
Is this a garbage excuse, cloaking the real reason CBS News is taking this action? We think so.
It’s more likely tweets like this are the real source of their frustration with Twitter:
A beautiful thing about Twitter is how it empowers citizen journalism – people are able to disseminate news without an establishment bias

In the past few days, left-leaning forces across Twitter have been trying to speak the end of the platform into existence to salve their butthurt over Musk taking control of the platform. In their minds, if they can’t control Twitter and who says what, then nobody should. This editor believes CBS News is just joining team ‘take your ball and go home’.
Is it going to work? We don’t think so.
Look, Twitter has a user base of 200 million people. We go to Twitter for our news, entertainment, friendships, sports, and gossip. It’s an everyday ritual for most users: ‘Let me see what’s going on in the world …’
The platform is not simply going to disappear because a tiny cabal of whiners, relative to the entire user base, has a raging case of avian envy.
CBS News is playing the fool, and Twitter users know it.
Sometimes the trash takes itself out.

See! Elon Musk has already improved the quality of news content the public is receiving. LOL.
That’s a real bummer…where ever will I get my redundant, misleading headlines and sound bites?

If only there were hundreds of other AP echo chambers spewing Democrat talking points on Twitter …

We hate to tell them, but for millions of people CBS News is either that place that occasionally shows up in their Twitter feed or was what Grandpa used to watch at 6 o’clock.
