One of the most annoying trends over the last several decades started when Democrats and activists figured out that they could basically politicize the weather and climate in return for what they hoped would be power, control and of course large amounts of money.
Bernie Sanders, AOC, and many other communist/socialist on the Left have been trying to panic people for years, and certainly Al Gore is the godfather of climate change BS.
They're always wrong but never in doubt, especially the Goracle:

I can't help but notice that the Left has largely stopped pushing their "Green New Deal" dreams of massive wealth transfer. Even Greta Thunberg shifted away from that to simping for Hamas.

People also notice all the goal post shifting. One hilariously pathetic example happened when Glacier National Park swapped out signs that warned the glaciers at the park would be gone by 2020 because of climate change. The sign got awkward when the glaciers were still there, so it's been updated and they'll just hope nobody notices the switch.

The AP has literally been funded by "philanthropic grants" to push that nonsense, and I've written about that in the past. It's just one example why trust in media has gone down just as fast as the number of people who buy into the Left's climate change fearmongering. The two go hand-in-hand and deserve each other.
