I've written before about the massive decline of late-night "comedy." As a matter of fact, it's declined so much that Jimmy Kimmel recently said his job isn't necessarily even to be funny:
Jimmy Kimmel tells critics to stop telling him his job is to be funny.
— The Vigilant Fox 🦊 (@VigilantFox) April 15, 2026
Says his job is “whatever I DECIDE my job is.”
Suggests that if his comedy suffers because he wants to talk about Trump, then so be it.
“I just can’t imagine on those nights talking about anything other… pic.twitter.com/7DfZiRZ3EE
Well, he certainly has achieved that goal.
These days things are different. We've gone from Johnny Carson's "Tea Time Movie" to Stephen Colbert's "The Vax Scene."
The net effect of late night "comedy" to a large degree becoming DNC TV couldn't be more obvious:
the irony: it's free speech's fault all their shows imploded pic.twitter.com/d5Ej4RaTWK

That's what happens when the alphabet networks and their late night hosts decide to cater to one political ideology, and they're still at it:
🚨 MRC EXCLUSIVE: In 2025, Late Night told over 7,000 Trump jokes and almost every guest (99%) was a liberal. @nypost https://t.co/yyLkyw83MG

That continues to this day, as I noted on X:
It’s a total mystery why late night “comedy” ratings are way down. pic.twitter.com/bMd2zzNj5I

These two Dems were on different late night shows on the same evening:
Tune in to Jimmy Kimmel Live at 10:35 tonight! pic.twitter.com/ukdCPURMa9
— Tim Walz (@Tim_Walz) April 22, 2026
Not exactly "must see TV," not unlike how Walz was a "must not have VP candidate."
Looking forward to stopping by the @colbertlateshow one last time. Tune in tonight! pic.twitter.com/Hq7JuXuG3K
— Pete Buttigieg (@PeteButtigieg) April 22, 2026
We probably couldn't get lucky enough for the Dems to nominate Buttigieg and Walz to head the Dem ticket in 2028. The latter certainly wouldn't get any scrutiny from Kimmel:
🚨 JIMMY KIMMEL: Did it take a long time for you to know fraud was happening?
— Eric Daugherty (@EricLDaugh) April 23, 2026
TIM WALZ: It happens in other states! Trump used it as an EXCUSE! It was perfect for him to do. Demonize the Somali community! We ARE a generous state!
Tim Walz should just resign. What a DISGRACE and… pic.twitter.com/IED0lyenkr
We know Kimmel isn't trying to be funny as he said earlier, because if he was he'd have responded to Walz with "you do run a generous state... for fraudsters."
Can't wait to see which Democrats these shows have on this evening!
