As everybody knows, Pope Leo XIV has made remarks recently about President Trump, including comments about Trump's immigration policies and the operation in Iran.
Here's one of the Pope's remarks from a few months ago that the Democrats applauded:
Pope Leo XIV SLAMS conservatives for wanting to deport criminal illegal immigrants..

To that all I'll say is try trespassing inside the Vatican and see how that works out for you. But apparently Trump's out of line for enforcing immigration laws and deporting criminal illegals.
But the Pope/Trump spat has caused the Democrats to take a break from screaming about "separation of church and state" and they're now shopping for cassocks and mitres to wear.
There are a few Democrats who are lacking self-awareness on this, but I'll focus on Sen. Ed Markey:
To be clear, I'm on team Pope.
— Ed Markey (@SenMarkey) April 16, 2026
Is that so? If so the pro-life movement would welcome him aboard but that of course isn't what Markey's talking about:
You're really, REALLY not, Ed. https://t.co/NOCVDqCSQz pic.twitter.com/272WfMmAa1

No, he's NOT on "Team Pope" at all:
Cool. You're pro-life now?
— Chuck DeVore (@ChuckDeVore) April 16, 2026
Are you really, though? https://t.co/dsWU9hHOzA pic.twitter.com/w7ObRo8WDQ

Nope!
I'll add a little bit about the Pope's position on the issue Dems hold dear:
Pro-abort Markey is a hundred percent with the Pope now? Great! Glad to have you on the pro-life team. https://t.co/fs4nKvDXTh pic.twitter.com/qY2J88bHVi

Fortunately for pro-abort Dems like Markey, they know when they're doing interviews on MSM outlets they won't be reminded of the Pope's stance on abortion and then asked if they're still on "Team Pope."
